Doug White was one of the four founding members of Principia Mechanica Ltd which in 1980 delivered academic levels of engineering consultancy to commercial timescales.  That company's reputation was built upon its seismic expertise but it also contributed very significantly to the engineering application of newly-developing areas of impact analysis and probability methods.  By the mid-1980's Doug ran the northern offices of the company, largely working on seismic studies for BNFL.  Before the take over of Principia, Doug decided to branch out on his own and thus DC White & Partners was formed in 1987.

DC White & Partners Ltd continues to deliver academic levels of engineering consultancy to commercial timescales but provides a broader range of mechanical and civil engineering solutions.  Seismic structural engineering and vibration analysis still form the backbone but with the additions of pressure vessels, piping, thermal and fracture investigations together with bespoke instrumentation and testing services.
