Safety Cases Safety has always been a prime driving force behind legislation directed at industry. Through the HSE, the government has placed more of the burden on industry by requiring companies to prove the safety of their plant and procedures. The nuclear industry has always been required to produce safety cases. It is only relatively recently that these procedures have been taken up by other industrial sectors.
